The House of Muskets was started in 1968 in Riverton, Wyoming. Don Miner, our originator and product designer had been an apiculturist for around five years. Don built his first black powder pistol at the age of 13 and being a black powder enthusiast, Don couldn’t find the bullet molds he personally needed.

Since the black powder industry was booming in the late sixties, selling his bees in 1968 allowed Don to start with a Lyman distributorship, in which he carried 75 different round ball bullet molds. Don's second item was a distributorship with the Douglas Barrel Company, followed shortly by Goex, formerly known as The Dupont Powder Company.

Don then bought an engine lathe, producing the first genuine Treso product Ampco Nipples, manufactured in 1970; followed by short starters, and flask spouts.

In 1973, the company was moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and in 1975, Don bought property and built The House of Muskets building. After the first two years of production Don was able to purchase two hand screw machines. Since then, we have continued to invent new products to meet the growing needs of the black powder enthusiast. Quality Treso parts are still in production today, here at The House of Muskets.
